The Fourth Way begins with a deliberately uncomfortable proposal: much of what we call choice is a chain of reactions whose causes we rarely see. The point is not to adopt that claim as a belief. The point is to test it.

Observation changes when it stops asking whether an experience is good or bad. A gesture, tightening in the body, recurring sentence, or sudden shift of mood becomes information about how the system works.

This path treats attention as practical material. Nothing special has to happen. The work begins in conversations, delays, embarrassment, appetite, resistance, and the ordinary moments in which presence disappears.
